A Series: The Culture Wars

Starting next week, we will be diving into a 4 part series covering the American Culture Wars. I hope you’ll consider subscribing and sharing with anyone in your circles who might benefit from this journey. No doubt many of us have ideas about what “The Culture Wars” are. From Disney boycotts of the 90’s to gender-neutral bathrooms and social justice today.

Does a Culture War Christianity align with Jesus’ Kingdom? We’ll explore this question and more through this series.

What may be surprising to hear is how leaders around the world recognize the divisive, radicalizing power of the American Culture Wars in the globalized, digital world. Culture is, after all, one of America’s chief exports. In 2019, Singaporean PM Lee Hsien Loong identified radical Islam and our own American Culture Wars as two threats to religious freedom grounded in a pluralistic tolerant democracy for Singapore. There’s another reason I want to write this series. In the middle of the trenches of the Culture War is a vast “no man’s land”. It’s here where scores of American Christians sit, either wounded or disenchanted. Like any war, the Culture War has its refugees. By examining the history and theology of Culture War Christianity, we will emerge with a better perspective on the responsibility inherent not only for American citizens, but especially for those of us who count ourselves as citizens of Jesus’ Kingdom first.

The series kicks off Monday. Feel free to get in touch with questions here. I’ll do my best to answer each one. Please consider subscribing or sharing if you haven’t already.
